Bedtime

My favorite time of the day is bedtime. We aren't huge on routine or even having a set bedtime. It kind of just happens. Little Adney starts rubbing his eyes and wanting to snuggle. Diapers are changed, play clothes are exchanged for jammies, and teeth are brushed. Bright lights are turned off and the dim glow of night lights take their place. A favorite book is pulled off the shelf and familiar pages are turned and familiar lines are read in familiar tones ("I love you through and through, yesterday today and tomorrow too"). The quiet, monotone singing voice of a three year old tries to pronounce and understand all the words of songs that I remember my own mother singing to me before I went to bed. Songs like "I am a child of God" or "Reverently, quietly" or "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam". And then the innocent prayer of a little boy is offered. Heavwy fadder, peese bless Mommy n Daddy an baby Cammon. Peese bless da cows and horsies and tractors. Peese bless me sleep good. Jeez Christ Men. And then with a kiss and a squeeze, we turn to leave. Right as we walk out, a quiet voice says, Nigh Nigh Mommy.

Night night baby, sleep good.

Sooo cute! You are a wonderful mother! I admired the way you took such great care of both Adney and Cammon when I visited! You will do well with a house full of children someday! Love ya!
