Potty Time!

So we have attempted the whole Potty Training thing a few other times. And Adney hasn't been interested, and I don't really believe in forcing him to try. So he has acted a little more interested lately, so we are giving it another go.

He went Pee-Pee on the potty a few times earlier in the day and I was way psyched. But this is the conversation we had tonight:

Me: Do you need to go potty bud?
Adney: No I Good.
Me: Why don't we just try and if you go you can get a sticker. Yay!
Adney: [concentrated poop face]
Me: Do you need to go Poo Poo?
Adney: No I good. I go in diaper.

And he did go in his diaper. And he wanted to. So I think tomorrow we are going to lose the diaper all together and he can have a no pants day, even though it creeps Kyle out. (If you drop by, be prepared).

I suck at potty training. Any suggestions?

Do a ridiculous potty dance/song EVERY single time he goes. Pee or poo. Kyla laughed every time! Don't know if it worked but it was fun! And that's the hardest part about potty training is keeping it fun because it gets exhausting, monotonous and you just wanna give up (we tried multiple times as well). She finally just decided to do it on her own and she realized that diapers were for babies and she didn't want to be a baby. It was overall her decision and it was very helpful because then I didn't have to force it on her anymore. Anyway, I don't have many suggestions because every kid is so different in this aspect. Kyla loved getting surprises. THat was her biggest motivater. Stickers worked occasionally, treats sometimes, but she loved getting surprises! I figured it was worth it...spend a little more on prizes now and then never have to buy diapers for her again. It was a good trade off. We just got lots of 50 cent-1.00 things at DI and the dollar store. Then once she got a hang of what was going on, if she stayed dry for a week then we'd get her something a little bigger. Anyway, it'll come!! Good luck and don't stress over it. Just be consistent, make it a game and lots of fun and he'll eventually figure it out!

bahahahahahahaah that is HILARIOUS. I've heard that no matter now long it takes, the most important part is waiting for them to initiate or express interest, and from there it's a piece of cake. but who am i to talk. i know it's easier said than done, and i have no children. but that's just what i've been taught in all my classes.

Haha! No suggestions but that's how I plan on trying to potty train. Just have him go with no diapers until he's trained. Thankfully we have hardwood floors downstairs so I plan on just gating off the upstairs except for naps/bedtime (which I'm sure will take longer to potty train him through the night).

we went weeks with no pants on days!! i think its the way to go with boys, even though yes it can be um.. distracting for them. We still have no pants on days, but he is atleast wearing underpants now. Hunter still will purposely wait to poop in the diaper at bed time! not always, but a moajority of the time. you will get there!

I know this sounds weird. But it's really not about the kids being ready. It's about the mom and dad. Definately lose the diaper and DO NOT go back. We had to do the house arrest with our two and just keep sticking it out. He'll get there, don't worry!

I never did the no pants thing, I just did the no diaper thing. Day 1 I put him in underwear. Yes he peed his pants all day, but he didn't like being wet. We would jump up and down and act so excited when he would pee in the potty! He had a lapse when we moved so we started a potty prize basket and he got to pick something from the basket when he went potty. He didn't care about stickers...he wanted FOOD.lol. My daycare lady said that having a "pass the torch" ceremony works too, when the new baby comes, have Adney give the baby his diapers because he's a big boy and he doesn't need them anymore.
