So last night I was watching Food Network before I went to bed while Kyle was working on some homework. And right in between "Chopped" and "Iron Chef" Kyle comes walking out to the living room and demands to know if I have packed a bag yet. "No I guess I haven't. Why?" He got that face that he gets when he knows something I don't know and said "You should pack one soon." So I asked him if he thought I was going into labor tonight or something. And he said "It will be soon" and then went back to doing his homework. He also came out later and told me to NEVER get Osteoporosis... RANDOM.
So I find myself questioning if I am going to go into labor today just because Kyle, in his all knowing studness, thinks I am going to "Soon". Whatever that means. Either way, he is right. I am almost 38 weeks... I should probably pack a bag.
But I can't remember what I was glad I had and what I wish I would have had when I had Adney. Except for Gatorade. I remember all I wanted after labor was a nice cold Gatorade and the Hospital couldn't find one for me in the middle of the day if it killed them. And I can't remember if Madison Memorial makes you wear their gowns the whole time or if I just wore their gowns because I didn't bring anything else.
So what should I pack? Any suggestions? Anything you were SO glad you had or anything you packed that you didn't use?

Miriam- I love your blog! I think those hubbys have more of an inkling then you think... Just an hour before my water broke with Taybri, I heard Dean talking on the phone to someone telling him that he was pretty sure he would make it to a meeting that week because he thought the baby would be coming "soon". At the moment it kind of made me mad though....
Ohhhhh. I forgot, I always forget chapstick and gum, but wish I had it...
I always bought a fun pack of new socks. I love socks. Not like dorky teeny-bopper socks but cute striped ones and such. I know it's summer time, but I HATE barefeet on the hosptal floors...good luck!!
Madison Hospital will let you wear anything. At least I did! I liked having pajamas with me. One thing that I wished I could have brought was a rice pack or heating pack because the after-cramps with the second are HORRIBLE!!! Seriously...they hurt almost worse than the whole labor thing for me. That was just my experience though. Also, I was definitely glad to have brought a binky for the baby because he definitely would have been feeding on me all night and so I'm very glad I had one. I know the hospital gives you one but sometimes they run out (they did with Kyla!). I brought nursing pads, but then realized that wasn't a necissary thing because my milk didn't even come in until a few days after the baby's born although I guess for some it might come earlier or if you have to stay in the hospital longer. Oh and something to hold your hair back..it tends to get in the way at times. Good luck! I hope he comes REALLY soon!
Haha! How funny! All-knowing studness - made me laugh! Well, I don't know since my experience was a bit different, but let me throw some things out that come to mind:
Your own nice-smelling lotion if you get dry skin (I hate dry skin against sheets...).
A bit of makeup if you feel like freshening up afterwards, especially with all the pictures (some moms love doing that, but not all).
Outfits for baby.
Flip-flops.
Ink for feet and hand prints (the hospital only does feet, right??)
Big one: YOUR OWN CLOTHES. You don't HAVE to wear the hospital gowns and you'll feel more like yourself and less like a "patient" with your own attire. Plus... nothing's less flattering or pretty than those gowns. Get your own, cute, comfy gown for this unforgettable event!
Ummmm... can't think of anything else at the moment. Post an update of what you packed!!
